The Most Essential Tools You Need When Beginning Your HVAC Career

Posted on November 1, 2022November 1, 2022 by Business Success

If you’ve recently started working in the HVAC industry, you may be just building your toolkit. With so many options for HVAC tools for sale, it can feel daunting to choose what is best for you. Luckily, there are some tips to keep in mind when filling up your equipment stock.

With almost 87% of American homes having air conditioning, HVAC is an evergreen business, according to OneDesk. HVAC business professionals typically offer a variety of services, such as installing heating and cooling systems, hot water tanks, refrigerant maintenance, cleaning ducts, and more. To effectively complete these tasks, you first need to know where to buy HVAC tools, and which of these tools you need.

A Vacuum Pump

Any HVAC professional will need an HVAC vacuum pump. The vacuum pump is designed to eliminate gas, vapors, and any other contaminants that may occupy the refrigeration system. If you do not have a manifold, now is absolutely the time to get one. This tool is essential for HVAC professionals. The manifold gauge is used to monitor the heating and cooling systems, specifically the refrigerant pressure. The manifold gauges control the flow of the pressure or gas in the system.

A 4 Port Refrigerant Manifold

If you are working on a large-scale project, a 4 port refrigerant manifold is going to be your best option. Simpler than the 4 port refrigerant manifold, a 3 port refrigerant manifold will also serve some use, especially if you are a beginner. Having both AC manifold gauges on hand is ideal. If you don’t know how to use the 4 port refrigerant manifold, the 3 port option is typically a suitable option for day-to-day projects. You have the option of analog or digital manifolds; choose which feels best for you.

Electrical Meter and Scale

An electrical clamp meter and an electronic refrigerant scale are also ideal tools to add to your kit. Electricians often use electrical clamp meters, but they can be very useful in this line of work as well. They are used to help measure the current of any wires you may encounter. An electronic refrigerant scale will make your life much easier. This is used to measure the weight of the refrigerant as it’s added or removed from the compressor. It’s recommended to use a carbon monoxide tester when working with heating equipment, according to us here at Fieldpiece. Finally, micron pressure gauges will allow you to measure the pressure of deep vacuums.

Whether you just began your HVAC career or you’ve been in the industry for years and are looking for an upgrade, we can help you.
